“The Picasso museum in Barcelona has one room dedicated to a group of paintings Picasso painted while he was having a break from his ‘serious’ work deconstructing Velazquez’s ‘Las Meninas‘.
“The paintings are of the view from his studio near Cannes, and each painting is full of a delightful anarchic flock of pigeons or doves who wouldn’t look out of place in an episode of ‘The Simpsons’.
“Picasso signed and dated his work every day and the inspiration for this painting came directly from his painting of the doves on my 9th Birthday!” (Francis Boag)
