Craig is a great admirer of Giorgio Morandi, Italian painter and printmaker, who "made paintings that are mind-expandingly simple and complex all at once" (ARTnews, 2020). The pupil emulates the master!

Craig makes paintings and drawings that explore still life, figurative and landscape subjects. He seeks to investigate the profound qualities that exist in our immediate surroundings. His vibrant use of colour alters appearances and expectations and creates new, expressive forms. He makes the viewer notice and appreciate both the subject matter and the materiality of the mark making. In his work, colour conveys thoughtfulness and a multitude of emotions. His paintings use complementary colour combinations, such as yellow and violet, as tools of expression - with intense results.
