Lesley D McKenzie is a successful, well regarded artist; originally a graphic designer, she worked in the oil industry until deciding to become a full time artist and sculptor in 1996. Based just north of Aberdeen, Lesley's diverse work is in collections throughout the world.
She has a wealth of experience in animal anatomy and is admired hugely for her ability to capture the very essence and actual attitude of her subject. Her raku sculptures are all one-off, hand built originals made using earthenware clay to which paper pulp is added to help with the raku firing which results in tiny hairline cracks appearing in the glaze, absorbing carbon and leaving a rich crackle glaze with a wonderful smoky finish.
Lesley has won many awards for her work, her work is collected internationally and her work hosted by many of Scotland's top galleries
