Luisa Ramazzotti Italy, 1953-Present

Luisa Ramazzotti was born in Turin, Italy.  Between 1970 and 1972 she studied at the Liceo Artistico Vittorio Veneto.  She came to live in Scotland in 1977 and studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, graduating in 1996.

Since her graduation in 1996, Luisa has been working as an artist and teacher and her work can be found in private collections in the UK, Italy, France and Japan.

Luisa creates her images from drawings, recollections and her own imagination, inspired by the memories of a place together with the smells, the feelings and the emotions, that she tries to convey through her work.

Of her work, Luisa says. “The Scottish landscape, and Venice in particular, are for me a source of continuous inspiration. I frequently travel to Italy where I spend time drawing and recording information that I will use back in the studio.

“My paintings are built of thick and thin layers of oil paint and often evolve over a period of time. Working away from the subject allows me the freedom to use my imagination and colour to convey the memory of a place.”

In 2008 she was awarded the Perth and Kinross Visual Artists Award and was instrumental is setting up Perthshire Open Studios.  In 2009, she returned to her studies and was awarded a Master in Fine Art.

Luisa has shown with Fraser Gallery St Andrews for a number of years and regularly features in our mixed exhibition.
