Peter Thomson was born in Dennistoun in the East end of Glasgow. He studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1980 - 1984. After graduating, he worked as a mural painter for Haringey Health Authority in London. Then, in 1985, became a full-time artist and has been painting ever since.
Peter has always worked as a figurative painter, in areas of imagined, but primarily observed imagery. He feels that the best way to describe the nature of his practice is to reference the painters who have always, and continue, to influence him. These artists are Walter Sickert, Gwen John, Paula Modersohn Becker, Edouard Vuillard, Edward Hopper, Fairfield Porter and Vincent Van Gogh.
Peter's work can be found in the Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow, the Scottish Arts Council and the Fleming Collection, London.
