Christian Moore is a self-taught contemporary artist known for creating works that often incorporate metal (mainly bronze) and organic materials.
He worked as a fashion illustrator in London for over a decade for premium fashion brands and magazines such as Chanel and Tatler.
After leaving London and moving to Scotland to raise his family, Christian's surroundings and focus changed. His enchantment with the natural world now provides the inspiration for his paintings. The often lone subject and the space that it occupies represent the calm and clarity that he experienced when moving from the city, to living more harmoniously with nature.
As with his earlier illustrative work, his current pieces remain true to his overall 'less is more' approach and the work embodies his overall sense of style and celebrates beauty and imperfection.
"I developed a new technique over a five year period after leaving London where I cold cast bronze onto mineral paint, sand, plaster and hessian background. I age the bronze so it develops a real verdigris patina and use this to give additional definition to my pieces. I make the cold cast in my studio using a fine bronze metal powder and a type of resin. I deliberately crack the background of my pieces by rolling them before bonding them to a flat, wooden backing. I colour the background by adding and removing countless layers of mineral paint, then I add the foreground texture and paint the shadow of the main subject. The work is then sealed and protected. It's a laborious process but one filled with love and passion for the art".
