ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Since graduating from Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen in 2000, Dylan Lisle has been fascinated by the academic and technical aspects of painting and drawing and strives to challenge himself creatively by utilising methods and processes pioneered by the old masters such as monochromatic underpainting, velatura and glazing. Perfectly detailed knots and swathes of fabric envelope his sensitively represented figures, or otherwise are the subject of larger studies, which draw upon chiaroscuro, reminiscent of Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Vermeer and Rubens.

Exhibiting in a growing number of galleries, he has recently enjoyed his first London solo exhibition at the Medici Gallery in Cork Street.
